From the beginning, we’ve offered a smart alternative to custom cabinetry by pairing Ikea’s reliable, affordable cabinet frames with our elevated door fronts, trims, and panels. We started with a curated mix of styles and finishes: real wood veneers, matte thermofoil options, rich faux woods, and even paint-ready fronts for those who wanted full creative control.
But great design demands more flexibility.
We know many of our customers are dreaming in color—imagining sage green kitchens, deep blue vanities, or soft cream closets—but don’t want to take on the time or deal with the mess of painting doors themselves. So we are making it easier. Because giving you the power to design a space that’s entirely your own? That’s a no-brainer.
Our new painted door service opens up a world of color without the DIY hassle. Now, you can choose from a wide range of Sherwin-Williams paint colors (or request a custom match), and we’ll handle the sanding, priming, and painting in-house, delivering a smooth, satin-finish product that’s ready to install and enjoy.
About Modern Twig’s Kulör Collection
Our Kulör collection comes in all of our unfinished signature door styles:
- Slab – ¾” thick MDF core with a refined maple edge banding
- Shaker – ¾” thick maple frame in a classic 5-piece construction with an MDF center panel
- Outline (Slim Shaker) – ¾” thick seamless MDF for a sleek, modern profile
- We are also working on a few extraordinary new styles… stay tuned!

Every door is sanded, primed, and painted by hand, then finished with a smooth satin sheen that feels soft, is easy to clean, and adds a touch of understated elegance.

How to Order Painted Doors
If you’ve worked with us before, ordering painted doors will feel completely familiar. If you’re new, don’t worry, our process is pretty straightforward.
We start with your Ikea plans. If your layout is already finalized, simply send us your files and schedule a call with a Modern Twig expert. From there, we’ll review your design and provide an estimate for your painted doors and panels.
Still in the planning phase? No problem. You can book a Design Service, and our expert team will help you bring your vision to life—from mapping out your Ikea project to selecting the right styles, colors, and materials.
Once your order is confirmed, we’ll begin production. Our painted doors currently have a 5–6 week lead time, which gives us the time we need to craft each piece with the precision and attention to detail you expect from Modern Twig.
